We flew from Antalya to Kayseri courtesy of a cheap Pegasus flight and eventually reached our hostel in Goreme at the glorious hour of 2am. We were so bushed we couldn’t even get out of bed in time for the free breakfast. The benefit of arriving at that time of night was we hadn’t seen any of the scenery on the way in, so we were pretty keen to get out and judge for ourselves if the hype was deserved. I will just say now that if anyone reading this is planning on going to Cappadocia then you might not want to look at the photos – the thing about this place is that the landscape is so different that if you see it with virgin eyes it makes for a ripper of a first impression.
