Sorry for the delay of this post. I’m still bothered by it because I don’t feel like I gave the trip and my experiences there justice; basically I don’t feel like I’m describing the trip well enough. But, whatever, here it is finally! My Bayram trip took place between October 23 through October 29.

“İyi Bayramlar” is the greeting Turks exchange over Bayram, a major holiday here in Turkey. Theologically, it celebrates the occasion when God provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice instead of his son, Isaac. (This story is the same between Jewish, Christian, and Muslim traditions.) Culturally, it’s a time when Turks venture back to their home towns to escape from work or school and see family and friends–almost like Thanksgiving…
