Istanbul

The Chronicles of Gen

Istanbul: The only city that spans two continents – Europe and Asia. It is an amazing, enormous, vibrant city with a population of about 13 million inhabitants. Although it is not the capital of Turkey, it is the historical, economic and cultural centre of Turkey. However, the Turkish culture in Istanbul is so very different than it is in other parts of Turkey from due to the extremely high influx of tourists each year and the impact of Westen/European culture. I mostly stayed on the European side of Istanbul, particularly in an area called Sutanahmet (Old City), which is where a lot of the ancient monuments, churches, mosques, and sights were situated, and thus it is also pretty Touristy.

It is so hard to explain all I experienced in Istanbul, so hopefully this gallery of pictures will do it for me. Enjoy!
